RiverMap Icons
Hammer This map is still being worked on, and may be missing icons for animals, chests, or even NPCs. Some pages linked below may also not be available yet. It is uploaded in its current state for reference, because the layout is still new and unfamiliar even to veteran players.

The River Map was added on April 30, 2021. The layout differs significantly from the Classic Map, and the locations of many NPCs, caves, and building have been changed.

As with the Classic Map, most areas do not have in-game names. For convenience they are referred to across this wiki with placeholder names related to nearby identifying objects or geography. If an area eventually gets an official name, the map will be updated.

How To Use[]

The map must be enlarged in order to use properly. Clicking on it will show a zoomed in version, but the original large size can be viewed by clicking the "see full size image" link at the top left of the image pop-up.

Map Legend[]

Key Regions, Notable Regions, Decorative Islands, Caves, and NPC locations are marked by colored pins.

NPC names are trimmed down to save on space and provide a more accurate representation of where a character is. Caves and Decorative Islands are denoted by letter-number abbreviations to save on space as well.

Locations of loot chests, wild animals, beehives, fruit trees, blueberry bushes, and frequent spawn locations for bubbles and fishing spots are marked by their icons directly on the map. For locations of rare animal or treasure chest spots, see the Rare Spawn Locations Map.

The map breaks down the original in-game map into specific regions:

Player Home Region[]

The Player's Home is located in the Player Home Region. The area contains the player's house, shop, and farm. The entrance to the Dungeon is also found in the northern part of the region.

Key Regions[]

Regions where the player will spend a majority of game time:

Notable Regions[]

Since the River Map is mostly composed of smaller islands, Notable Regions are considered the islands most likely to be visited. Compared to key regions the player may not be here that often, but there are still reasons to visit:

Decorative Islands[]

Decorative Islands, known as Outer Islands on the Classic Map, are mostly out or the way and less frequently visited. Reaching them will require a glider, Raft, or bridge building.

They have little significance to quests, but some have Loot Chests, rare animals, or varieties of plants and flowers that don't appear anywhere in Key or Notable Regions, such as colored Hydrangeas or Cosmos. They may also be potential spawn locations for Legendary Mounts. See the enlarged map for specific locations.

Decorative Islands are designated either by "D#" labels, or named based on recognizable features. Island names are for unofficial reference and do not appear in game. The list starts counterclockwise from the lower left of the map.

  • Honey Island - (Chest, 2 Beehives, colored Dandelions)
  • Mushroom Island - (Chest, dense ferns, Red and Blue Mushrooms grow there year round)
  • D1 - A "C"-shaped island between Mr. Jones and Mining Island
  • D2 - Between Mining Island and Ferret Island
  • Ferret Island - (Chest, 2 Ferrets, seasonal tree, Crystal Geode Cave)
  • D3 - Between Ferret Island and D4
  • D4 - Between D3 and Dev's Island (Seasonal tree)
  • D5 - North of Kieran's Campsite (Chest)
  • D6 - East of Hippo Island
  • Hippo Island - (2 large and 1 small Hippo, 1 black and 1 white Horse)
  • Skunk Island - (Chest, 1 Skunk, colored Cosmos and Leaf flowers)
  • D7 - North of Skunk Island (Chest, 1 Beehive)
  • D8 - West of Skunk Island (Chest, dense ferns)
  • Penguin Island - (Giant Tree, Chest, 1 Beehive, Penguins in Winter, Pink/Yellow Hydrangeas)

Cave Locations[]

Caves can found in certain regions. Most of them are blocked until the player purchases the Miner's Camp upgrade and pays for the miners to clear the entrance.

Note: Because of the major changes in layout, cave numbers may be slightly different from the Classic Map:

Local NPCs[]

Newcomer NPCs[]

Moved NPCs[]

Characters who change locations on the island as their questlines are completed:

Seasonal NPCs[]
