Duckling is the baby version of the Duck.

Requirements

Ducklings will not be available in game until completing the following requirements:

• Play until Summer 1, Year 1
• Speak to Mr. Jones and begin the Duck Pond Questline with "Straw Hat (Quest)"
• Follow the questline to build the Duck Pond
• After the Duck Pond is built, Mr. Jones will begin selling Ducklings

Obtaining

Ducklings can be:

• Purchased from Mr. Jones for 300, and later on from Mr. Mooney's assistant Jacob for 330
• Found in Animal Mystery Boxes and Animal Mystery Bags
• Bred from 2 adult Ducks after Breeding is unlocked and completing Poppy's quest "Treats for Ducks"
• 1x Duckling is received as a reward for the quest "New Duckling"

Raising Ducklings

To raise a Duckling, it must be placed in a Duck Pond or a portable Chicken Coop (not the main one on the farm), and fed Bird Feed for 7 consecutive days.

Duckling vs Duck Sizes

The difference between maturity phases for Ducks is very subtle, and may look to some players like there was no change.

Ducklings look very similar to Ducks, but have larger eyes and a smaller head-to-body ratio. Adults have larger heads compared to their bodies:
